Two released after Ballymena drugs seizure
Two men who were arrested following the discovery of a quantity of drugs in County Antrim yesterday, have been released pending reports.
The pair were arrested yesterday following a planned search operation carried out by police at a number of properties in the Ballymena area.
During the raids, police discovered a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of £16,000 at a property in the Doury Road area of the town.
A spokesperson for the PSNI today described the seizure as “significant.”
Meanwhile, a man has been charged with possession of a class C drug, possession of a class C drug with intent to supply and motoring offences, after police stopped him in the St James' Park area of west Belfast yesterday afternoon.
He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on March 21.

A Newtownabbey man has been handed a custodial sentence for a series of drugs offences following police raids as part of a paramilitary probe. 49-year-old William Axon will serve two years imprisonment, half in custody and half on licence.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
