Holywood producer goes undercover with MacIntyre
Holywood-based Extreme Productions are to develop and direct a new Donal MacIntyre undercover project for television network five.
David Malone, Executive Producer at Extreme, said that the project would "push back the boundaries of popular journalism by creating new and radical television series".
Mr MacIntyre’s previous credits include the BBC's 'MacIntyre Undercover' in 1999 where, after two years of research, he infiltrated gangs of football hooligans. The resulting investigation resulted in two Chelsea football hooligans being convicted of conspiracy to commit violent disorder.
Donal MacIntyre said: “I’m delighted to be working with five. It’s a fantastic opportunity to combine my experience with the innovation and excitement that five has built a reputation.”
Director of Programmes at five, Kevin Lygo, said: “This is a great coup for the channel and underlines our commitment to attracting the best talent in the industry to five.”
Extreme are also working on an hour-long BBC Four documentary covering the first year in office of Belfast's first republican Lord Mayor, Alex Maskey.
