South east Antrim leader expelled from UDA
The south east Antrim leader of the Ulster Defence Association and his advisor have been expelled from the organisation.
The two men have not been named officially in the statement from the ‘inner council’ of the organisation. However, it is understood they are the so-called Brigadier of south east Antrim Gary Fisher and his political advisor Tommy Kirkham.
The statement revealed the men were thrown out following lengthy discussions.
Last October Kirkham caused outrage when he claimed a south east Antrim unit, responsible for a dozen murders during the Troubles, wished to become a community development body. They also backed the Shoukri brothers and their allies who were driven out of north Belfast last year.
The news of their expulsion comes just days after £1m was allocated to a three year project aimed at helping end paramilitary in loyalist areas.
Kirkham also recently asked for £8.5 million, under the banner of Beyond Conflict to help end criminality in the area.

Police Officer Injured In Attacks
A police officer has been injured following serious disturbances in Larne, Co Antrim. On Sunday night (30 March), police received a report of disturbances in the Sallagh Park South area at around 8.40pm. Within minutes, officers arrived at the scene and were immediately attacked.

A loyalist paramilitary organisation that recently decommissioned weapons has been blamed for an attack on a nine-year-old boy's home. The finger is being pointed at the UDA in Rathcoole by local mum, Lisa Moore, who said this morning she would have to move away from the area.

Murder Probe As Man Dies In Carrickfergus
Police have launched a murder investigation after a man's body was discovered in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim. The victim was found in a flat in Ashleigh Park on Saturday 04 January. Three people, two men aged 38 and 39 and a woman aged 47, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday 06 January.

£90k Suspected Cannabis Seized In Craigavon
Officers from the PSNI's Paramilitary Crime Task Force have seized a significant amount of suspected cannabis amid investigations linked to the South East Antrim UDA. The plants, a mixture of mature plants and seedlings, are valued at around £90,000.
