Man dies in house blaze in Derry
A man has died in a house fire in the Creggan estate area of Londonderry.
The fire, which is not being treated as suspicious, broke out in the two-storey house at 4.00am. Neighbours on either side of the house had to be evacuated as firefighters tackled the blaze.
It is understood the attic was already well alight when the fire crew arrived at the scene.
The man's body was found on the ground floor of the house it and it is believed he was alone.

Fatal House Fire In Newtownards
A woman in her 30s has died in a fire at a house in Newtownards, Co. Down. The fire occurred at a house in Ilex Avenue at around 5.30pm and the woman is reported to have died at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is being conducted by police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has introduced a new online tool to help residents assess their home fire safety. The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

Man Found Dead In Co Tyrone House Fire
Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in a house fire in County Tyrone. The fire, at a house at Eastvale Avenue on Dungannon, is believed to have started in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The fire was already out when the emergency crew arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
