Detectives investigate west Belfast robbery

Police in west Belfast are appealing for information following an armed robbery in licensed premises in the Falls Road area.

It is understood two men, carrying handguns and wearing Halloween masks, entered the Rock bar between 11:45pm and 12.15am on Wednesday.

A manager was forced to open a safe and hand over a substantial sum of money. He was not injured.

One of the men was described as being around 5ft 8ins tall, of a medium build and a second man was said to be 5ft 9ins tall, of heavy build.

Both were wearing dark clothing and gloves.

Detectives believe four men, all in their early 20s, were involved in the incident.

House enquiries are taking place and CCTV footage is being examined.

They are also keen to identify a male who was at the front door of the premises at the time of the robbery. He had been speaking on his mobile phone, and is described as being 5ft 10ins, of slim build and was wearing a cream coloured jacket and jeans.

Police at Antrim Road can be contacted on: 0845 600 8000, or alternatively on the confidential Crimestoppers line: 0800 555 111.
