Former Ireland coach Jimmy Davidson dies
Former Ireland and Ulster rugby coach Jimmy Davidson has died following a long illness at the age of 64.
Davidson guided Ulster to three successive inter-provincial Grand Slam titles, and was praised with being a coach well ahead of his time.
He also won six caps for Ireland and was the International coach from 1987 to 1990.
Davidson was born in Armagh in October 1942 before moving to the West Country as a toddler.
Although living in Western-super-Mare, he was schooled in Bristol where he came under the influence of Welshman Alwyn Price at St Brendan’s College.
Jimmy Davidson studied Geography at Queen’s University Belfast, where he represented the senior team as a fresher.
He later taught at Royal School Dungannon before moving to Stranmillis College in Belfast, where he lectured in physical education and sports psychology.

Three in court over extortion charges
Three men have appeared in court today charged with extortion and theft. The three – Raymond Crooks (43) and Samuel Davidson (44), from Mervue Street in Belfast, and Gordon Davidson (29), of Greenmount Place in Belfast – where in Belfast Magistrates Court this morning to face charges relating to extortion at a north Belfast building site.

Traffic Warning For South Belfast Ahead Of Northern Ireland Match
Road users are advised to plan for potential traffic delays in the south Belfast area on Friday, 15th November due to the UEFA Nations League football match between Northern Ireland and Belarus. The match will take place at Windsor Park, kicking off at 7.45pm, and it is expected that around 18,000 supporters will attend.
