Bombardier wins £200m Flybe deal

Bombardier Aerospace has won a contract worth almost £200 million to supply new aircraft to regional airline Flybe.

The deal will supply 15 additional Bombardier Q400 turboprop airliners which are partly made at Shorts in Belfast. In addition, Flybe has taken options for 15 more planes.

Jim French, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Flybe praised the news saying: “The introduction of the Bombardier Q400 aircraft has played a key role in the turn-around of the business due to its customer appeal and economics.

“For the future though, most importantly its environmental credentials are exceptional. It is one of the quietest and most effective aircraft, ideally suited for the regional markets of the world.”

President of Bombardier Regional Aircraft, Steven Ridolfi, said: “Very low operating costs, jet-like speed and a spacious, quiet and comfortable cabin distinguish the Bombardier Q400 from the competition.

“We are delighted that Flybe will continue to grow their fleet with the Q400 airliner.”
