Youths raid Royal Mail office

Police in Castlereagh are appealing for information following a raid at a Royal Mail sorting office in east Belfast at 12:30am.

Up to five youths removed a section of perimeter fence at the Prince Regent Road premises. The gang were armed with crowbars and sledgehammers.

They forced open a fire door at the back of the site in the early morning raid, and a quantity of general mail was taken.

The youths had been wearing tracksuits and their faces were covered with scarves.

Police have asked for anyone who may have information on the burglary to contact them.
