Body found in Galway freezer unit
A murder investigation has been launched after the discovery of a body in a shop's refrigeration unit in Galway.
The man was found in a cold storage unit at the back store at the premises in St John's Avenue on Wednesday. A post mortem examination is to be carried out.
Gardai have not yet identified the victim, and the inquiry was upgraded to a murder investigation after forensic specialists studied the scene.
Assistant State Patholgist Dr Michael Curtis, who carried out the preliminary examination of the area, is due to hold a full post-mortem at University College Hospital.
The man's body was found in a storage unit at the rear of a fish shop. The scene remains sealed off as gardai work to establish a motive.

Man Charged After Glenarm Shooting
Detectives investigating the incident on Feystown Road on Monday, 25 November, have charged a 41-year-old man with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and criminal damage. The accused is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, 28 November.

Freezer victim identified
The body of a man who was found in a refrigeration unit in Galway has been identified. However, the name of the 51-year-old will not be publicly released until his family have been informed. Man Jailed In Connection With Annahilt Cannabis Farm
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Unit, in partnership with Belfast Harbour Police, have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug crime. On Friday evening, November 22nd, a vehicle was intercepted and searched in the West Bank Road area of north Belfast.
