Carrickfergus head injuries victim in hospital
A man has been taken to hospital following what is believed to be an assault in County Antrim.
The man, who has not been named, was discovered unconscious at McKeen’s Avenue in Carrickfergus.
Detectives understand the man was assaulted. He was taken to hospital suffering head injuries. The incident was reported shortly after 7am this morning.
Police in Newtownabbey are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information, to contact them on: 0845 600 8000.
Alternatively information can be passed on through the confidential Crimestoppers number on: 0800 555 111.

The PSNI's Major Investigation Team have launched an investigation into the death of a man following a suspected assault in the Rasharkin area. At around 10pm on Sunday 16 April, police received a report that a man had been found unconscious on the ground, at the back of licensed premises in the Main Street area of the village.

Newtownabbey Man Dies Following Assault
A man who was assaulted in Newtownabbey on Sunday has died from his injuries, police have confirmed. Colin Crawley, aged 40, passed away in hospital on Wednesday. He sustained serious head injuries. He had been taken to hospital after being found unconscious in the Shore Road area of Whiteabbey shortly after 1.15am on Sunday.

Man, 31, Critical Following Assault
A 31-year-old man is said to be in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted in Portrush. At around 1.50am this morning (Thursday 18 December), an altercation occurred close to a takeaway restaurant in the Dunluce Avenue area of the town. A window was shattered as a result.

Pensioner Critical After Brutal Assault
The aged victim of a brutal assault in Portadown is now in a critical condition in hospital. The 70-year-old man was found by a member of the public in an alleyway at Churchill Park in the Garvaghy Road area of Portadown.
