Dismembered Body Found In East Belfast

Detectives are questioning a 42-year-old man about the discovery of a dismembered body in the Mount area of east Belfast.

The body, which is believed to be male, was found in a bin in the courtyard at the rear of a block of flats at Pottinger House at around 6pm on Monday evening. The death is being treated as suspicious.

Forensic teams worked with police for several hours at the scene and a post mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.

The dead man, who has not yet been identified, is thought to be from Northern Ireland.

Renowned former sports editor of the Belfast Telegraph, Malcolm Brodie, has died. Mr Brodie began his career at the Portadown News, before moving to the Belfast Telegraph in 1943, where he worked for more than five decades. Brodie, who grew up in Scotland, was instrumental in establishing the paper’s sports department.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland have arrested one man following the discovery of a man's body in east Belfast. The police found the body early on Monday morning at Lord Street in the Mountpottinger area of east Belfast after a neighbour called around 3.30am.

Man Charged With East Belfast Murder
A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a dismembered body in the Mount area of east Belfast. The body of William David McClatchey, 34, from Taughmonagh in south Belfast was found in a bin in the courtyard at the rear of a block of flats at Pottinger House at around 6pm on Monday evening.
