Lisburn company expansion set to generate more business
Power generation specialist Edina Manufacturing has opened a new plant in Lisburn.
Graham Davis, Invest NI's Director of Local Economic Development, opened the new premises, which are located at Lissue Industrial Estate.
Welcoming the company’s expansion at Lisburn, Mr Davis said: “Edina Manufacturing is a successful enterprise which is implementing a growth strategy to grow its business throughout the United Kingdom based on its reputation for engineering excellence and quality services.
“This development will add significant value and increase the capability of its operation here in Lisburn. Stimulating business growth among established companies is a strategic priority for Invest NI and we look forward to working in partnership with Edina Manufacturing as it seeks to expand its markets.
“The company has also demonstrated a commitment to innovation through its development of combined heat and power systems that use environmentally friendly fuels such as natural gas and biogas/landfill gas.”
The new 40,000 sq ft premises, which represent a substantial expansion of Edina Manufacturing's operation in Northern Ireland, have been developed on a site purchased from Invest NI in March last year.
Managing Director of Edina Manufacturing, John McGowan, said: “We are expanding our business in Northern Ireland to meet a growing demand for our expertise and product range.
“The new facility will provide the scope we need to develop our manufacturing operations for industrial customers in our target markets. Lisburn is an ideal location because of its close proximity to road and rail links to the main ports in Belfast and Larne.
Mr Gibbons added: “Our decision to expand the business in Lisburn was influenced by the availability of a pool of people in the area with engineering skills and also by the advice and encouragement we have received from Invest NI,” he added.
Formed in 1995 in Northern Ireland by John McGowan and Paul Gibbons, Edina Manufacturing currently employs 25 people at Lisburn in the design, installation and service of industrial generators.
The company has received marketing assistance from Invest NI to develop new business in the border counties of the Republic of Ireland.

An extension to a factory used by a leading manufacturing firm is open for business and in turn has created 30 new jobs. Stormont Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has officially opened Creative Composites' new factory extension in Lisburn, and announced that the company had boosted employment with 30 new jobs.
