Elderly woman dies in Co Antrim house fire
An elderly woman has died following a fire in a house in County Antrim.
The woman, who was in her 90s, died in the blaze at her Ballykennedy Road home in Crumlin last night.
Neighbours raised the alarm after they spotted smoke coming from the farmhouse on Monday evening. Emergency services said that, as the house was in an isolated area, the fire could have been going for some time before the alarm was raised.
Acting Chief Fire Officer Peter Craig said: "Any fire is difficult to deal with but it is obviously more difficult when the fire has been burning for a protracted period of time."
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
