Irvine hails third place finish in Monza
Northern Ireland Formula One driver Eddie Irvine was in triumphant mood today following his third place finish in yesterday's Italian Grand Prix.
The Ulsterman gained a podium finish in Monza following an amazing turnaround in his team's fortunes over the past number of months.
It was also the Conlig man's first podium finish since last season when he finished third in Monaco and signals Jaguar's improvement in recent races having been vying with Minardi for the back row grid at the start of the season.
In his usual exuberant fashion, Irvine hailed his third-place finish at Monza as a bigger event than the Ferrari one-two, saying it was "much better than Ferrari getting a win". Reubens Barrichello finished just ahead of teammate, and current world champion, Michael Schumacher in yesterday's Grand Prix.
Irvine's finish also helped him move up to seventh place in the driver's championship and the Jaguar team into sixth place in the constructor's championship.
