Ports 'down and out' after Champions League defeat
Irish League Premiership title-holders, Portadown have been knocked out of this year's UEFA Champions League.
The Ports narrowly failed to progress to the second qualifying round of the competition after being beaten 3-2 by Belarus side, Belshina Bobruisk. The two sides drew 0-0 in the first leg at Shamrock Park, two weeks ago.
Ronnie McFall's men conceded two early goals against the home side, before pulling one back on the stroke of half-time thanks to a Gary Hamilton finish.
Portadown hopes were rocked when Bobruisk scored a third goal 14 minutes into the second half. But, a Vinny Arkins strike ensured an exciting finish by scoring number two for the Ports on 74 minutes.
Another goal would have taken Portadown through on the away goals rule but they could not find the net for a third time.
