Injuries After Electricity Poles Cut Down
Two men were taken to hospital on Monday evening after electricity poles were attacked and cut down in west Belfast.
A 25-year-old was arrested after the incident, which left 1,400 homes without electricity.
The NIE structure at the substation in the Glen Road/Suffolk Road area was cut down just before 9pm last night. Police are treating the incident as criminal.
Kirsty Forsythe, from NIE, said: "Two electricity poles holding a fairly major piece of equipment were cut down with what looks like a chain saw.
"I cannot overstate how dangerous this was."
One of the victims was discharged from the hospital, while the other is in a stable condition.
