Sx3 delivers IT support to NIGALA
The NI Guardian Ad Litem Agency (NIGALA) has appointed Sx3 as their hardware and software support provider.
The contract will help to ensure that the welfare and interests of children throughout Northern Ireland will be more effectively represented in court.
The role of NIGALA is to represent the best interests of children within the legal system, appointing independent social workers 'guardians ad litem' whose role is to ensure that the voice of the child is heard at the family proceeding court.
NIGALA's Business Manager Declan McAllister said: "We have benefited greatly from Sx3's experience, and, under the guidance of its experts, have implemented a support mechanism which is reliable, secure and highly efficient.
"This is particularly important as we employ 40 guardians ad litem who are mostly based at our three offices in Belfast, Armagh and Londonderry. Each guardian needs to be in regular communication with the children's solicitors, the respective courts throughout Northern Ireland, and with our headquarters in Belfast. So a reliable IT communications system is a necessity."
Handling sensitive information on the cases means that confidentiality, accuracy and good communications is critical.
As part of the contract Sx3 is to provide a guaranteed eight-hour response time on faults and repairs.
Commenting on the three-year deal with NIGALA, Sx3 Senior Account Manager Edna Armstrong said: "The nature of the workload handled by NIGALA means that effective use of technology is key to its success and ultimately to the future of children involved in public law and adoption proceedings."
The regional NIGALA service, which has three offices in Northern Ireland, handles around 500 cases a year.

Students get a better deal from Sx3
Newtownabbey-based IT services company, Sx3 has been awarded a three-year extension to its current IT services contract at the University of Ulster. The company, which has held the contract since 1996, will continue to service the University's four campuses and around 4,000 items of IT equipment which require an on-going service and repair.

Sx3 announce £23 million partnership contract
Newtownabbey-based technology company, Sx3, has signed a £23 million partnership contract with Hartlepool Borough Council to provide and manage all of the Council’s IT services over the next 10 years. The partnership with Sx3 will allow the Council to embrace the internet age by providing electronic access to all services by the year 2005.

CASI UK Announces £1m Expansion
Londonderry company Cornerstone Automation Systems (CASI) UK Ltd is investing over £1 million to expand its operations from its new premises located at Bay Road Business Park. The company, which is less than two years old, is being supported by Invest Northern Ireland to employ 12 additional staff and undertake a substantial marketing programme.
