Police appeal after girl sexually assaulted
Police are appealing for information after teenager suffered a serious sexual assault in County Antrim at the weekend.
The attack occurred in a field adjacent to the Hillhead Road, Toomebridge, at around 1.30am on Sunday morning.
The teenage girl was approached by a man outside a licensed premises on the Hillhead Road. He then punched her repeatedly before dragging her into a field where the assault took place.
Detective Inspector Frankie Taylor has urged witnesses to come forward.
"This is a terrible ordeal for the young girl to suffer and I am asking the public to assist us with our inquiries," he said.
Police would particularly like to hear from motorists or taxi drivers who were driving along the Hillhead Road at the time, or anyone who was in the bar on Saturday evening.
Anyone who may have information on the incident can contact detectives at Magherafelt on 028 7963 3713.
