Belfast IT firm to trim 30 jobs
Northern Ireland has suffered a further jobs blow with the announcement that Belfast-based software company Kainos is to downsize operations.
Kainos, an eBusiness and customer relationship management specialist employing over 250 consultants and software developers, has announced that it will cut 30 jobs by the end of August.
The company said that it hoped to implement the reduction through voluntary redundancies and sabbaticals, but did not rule out compulsory redundancies.
Kainos management said that the jobs cull had to be made in response to the climate of the hi-tech market at present.
Brendan Mooney, the Chief Executive Officer of Kainos said: “This is a difficult decision that we have not taken lightly. We are making the adjustment to our cost base as a prudent response to the current market climate. There is no impact on our ability to deliver on existing or future business. This measure will ensure that Kainos remains strong and profitable, allowing us to continue to provide an excellent service to our clients and to grow again when the market recovers.”
Founded in 1986, the company, which operates out of offices in London, Dublin and Belfast designs and implements critical eBusiness and customer relationship management solutions.
Clients of Kainos include many well-known companies such as AIB, Littlewoods, Lombard & Ulster, Viridian and egg.
At the recent Information Management awards held in London, Kainos took five top honours.
First prize in the Document Management Project category, Kainos was a runner up, or received a commendation, in four other categories, including CRM Project and E-Commerce Project of the year.
