Writs served against Omagh bomb suspects
The five men who allegedly carried out the Omagh bombing will have been served with writs by solicitors acting for the relatives of those who died in the atrocity by the end of today.
Following on from the revelation yesterday that the Omagh Victim's Legal Trust had accumulated the desired £1 million fighting fund for court action, two writs were served this morning with three more expected to be served at Portlaiose Prison later today.
At 6.45am this morning, a solicitor acting for the victim's families, Jason McHugh, accompanied by Garda officers, served writs at the last known addresses of Seamus Daly and Seamus McKenna in Dundalk, County Louth.
Daly's father took the writ on behalf of his son and when no one answered the door of the McKenna home, it was posted through the letterbox. Mr McHugh said that he was satisfied the writs had been served.
Later today Mr McHugh will travel to Portlaoise Prison outside Dublin to see Michael McKevitt, Liam Campbell and Colm Murphy. McKevitt and Campbell are in prison on charges not directly related to the bombing. Colm Murphy (49) is currently in the sixth month of a 14-year sentence for conspiring to cause the explosion, having been sent down at Dublin Special Criminal Court in January.
The Real IRA killed 29 people in Omagh August 15 1998 after it detonated a 500lb bomb in a crowded shopping precinct. Colm Murphy is the only person to have been convicted for crimes relating to the atrocity.

Major Drug Bust In Omagh Linked To INLA
Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force have made a significant drug seizure in Omagh. Officers searched a van in the Doogary Road area on Thursday morning, 21st November, and recovered a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £750,000.

Police to re-interview man in connection with Omagh bomb
Police want to re-interview a man accused of being involved in the 1998 Omagh bomb atrocity. Sean Gerard Hoey, 34, from, Jonesborough was charge last September with a number of terrorist offences, one of which relates to the 1998 bomb attack which killed 29 people.
