Ministers launch all-island Innovation Awards
Companies which have introduced new products, made novel changes in their manufacturing process or made an innovation to any part of their business in the last three years are being called to enter the new all-island Innovation Awards.
Innovation in all aspects of business will be recognised and rewarded through the Awards, which will be held on an all-island basis for the first time this year. The announcement was made at the July meeting of the North/South Ministerial Council in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.
The Awards are designed to highlight the importance of innovation and technology in business throughout the island and previous winners have all reported a positive impact on their business and a boost in morale among staff.
Launching the awards alongside Tánaiste, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Sir Reg Empey said: "It is our aim, through these awards, to encourage and motivate companies to welcome new ideas and create a dynamic business environment centred on continuous improvement and competitive advantage.
"That is why the first all-island Innovation Awards are so important. In both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, companies who embrace innovation will provide the building blocks for a thriving knowledge-based economy."
Companies wishing to enter can obtain an application form and further details by contacting Diane Dowey at Invest NI on 028 9262 3262.
The Innovation Awards are being jointly organised in Northern Ireland by InterTradeIreland and Invest NI, and in the Republic by Forfas.

Last Chance To Enter Belfast Business Awards

Andronics based in Londonderry, Andor Technology and Fusion Antibodies, both from Belfast, each one a small-medium sized enterprise, picked up three of the four All Island Innovation Awards last night.
