Other NI News In Brief
Bombs Fail To Halt Sunshine Holiday
A double bomb attack has failed to dent an Ulster couple's enjoyment of a Spanish holiday. They told the Belfast News Letter yesterday that the sunny weather was beautiful and they had no intention of heading home early or curtailing their activities: "Being from Northern Ireland means it would take a lot more than that to put us off," they said. Noel and Noeleen Murphy, from Dungannon, are on a 10-day break at the Costa del Sol, staying at a hotel in Benalmadena close to where one of the two small bombs exploded on Sunday. They were enjoying the sunshine on their terrace around the pool early on Sunday when they noticed eerily familiar activity on the beach. "We heard sirens and noticed police clearing sunbathers and swimmers off the beach. All the boats weren't being allowed back into the marina and were anchored offshore," noting that the alert started at about 10am and then at about 3pm when they heard an explosion and saw a puff of smoke on the beach on the other side of the marina (pictured). ETA has been fighting a terror campaign since 1968 for an independent Basque homeland in northern Spain and southern France. The group has been blamed for killing more than 825 people.
