Increased Demand For Irish Hospitality Jobs
The number of Irish people applying for jobs in the domestic hospitality trade has rocketed, according to a new report.
Highly sought after work in the restaurant and pub trade has been attributed to people recognising the possible earning potential within the industry.
Experts have said hospitality jobs are beginning to "shrug off" the misconception of being be quite "menial" roles.
However, Irish workers are now finding they have to compete for the coveted jobs against immigrant workers.
The Licensed Vintners Association's Tom Cleary said: "For the first time (in years), Irish nationals are applying for jobs in the waiting and kitchen areas."
Recruitment agencies across the country have experienced the influx in demand for hospitality jobs.
Catering recruitment website Caterer.com recently revealed that those working in the hospitality trade get the most jobs satisfaction.
The survey found 49.16% of these employees felt genuine enthusiasm and dedication towards their roles.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.

Irish engineering jobs are to triple over the next ten years, according to a new report. The figures, which come after it was revealed that 6% of workers in the trade are currently unemployed, have been released in an Engineers Ireland survey.
