Royal Visit For Carrick Marina
The Princess Royal arrived in Northern Ireland earlier today on a flying visit to carry out a series of engagements.
She visited Belfast Lough Sailability Group at Carrickfergus marina this afternoon to see examples of initiatives which promote sailing for people with disabilities.
She met children from Mitchell House Special School and watched a sailing display in the water.
The Princess Royal also named a small fleet of dinghies.
Earlier, a leading childrens' charity received a fillip when Princess Anne attended a 'Volunteer Day' reception hosted by the charity Save the Children.
It was attended by over 500 people and took place at Hillsborough Castle.
Princess Anne is patron of the charity which raised £2m in Northern Ireland last year.
Over lunch, the Princess met with some of the volunteers who run the charity's 23 branches and six shops in Northern Ireland.
Later in the day, she opened the new Grove Health and Well Being Centre in north Belfast's Shore Road and met local people and talked to those whose homes were damaged in recent flooding.
North Belfast MP Nigel Dodds said it was "a great day for Shore Road and the wider community in north Belfast".
