Coffee Anyone? Says Charity
Over 18,500 people across Northern Ireland took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning last week.
Around 565 coffee mornings were held throughout the country as part of the huge fundraising event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
And Northern Ireland charity bosses are hopeful they have hit their fundraising target of £775,000.
Director of Macmillan Cancer Support in Northern Ireland, Elspeth Atkinson, said "The World's Biggest Coffee Morning was a fantastic success. I would like to thank everyone who took part.
"It was a great event, and once again the people of Northern Ireland got behind us whole-heartedly, helping us raise thousands of pounds to fund our services.
"We rely almost entirely on donations, and without all the hard work from our coffee morning hosts and goodwill from those who go along to their events, we wouldn't be able to keep offering the fantastic services that so many people rely on."
Macmillan Cancer Support don't yet know how much money has been raised from the event as contributions are still coming in but Northern Ireland charity bosses are hopeful they will hit their target of £220,000 and their UK target of £8.5 million.
Elspeth, added: "Every year we raise more and more from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It's an event that really seems to capture the interest of all kinds of groups, from large UK-wide businesses, to individuals and small community organisations.
"This was the 18th year Macmillan Cancer Support has held World's Biggest Coffee Morning, and it only seems to get more popular. I'm sure next year's event will be even bigger and better."
