Funeral of Fulton takes place

The funeral of Mark Fulton, the leading loyalist found dead in his cell in Maghaberry prison, has taken place in Portadown.

A former leader of the paramilitary Loyalist Volunteer Force (LVF), he was found dead in his cell on Monday.

Following a second independent post mortem carried out on Tuesday, which had been requested by the family, the possibility of murder was again ruled out. Police said that the post mortem results were consistent with the findings of their investigation to date.

Fulton (42) was on remand in Maghaberry Prison accused of conspiracy to murder following his arrest in connection with a serious loyalist paramilitary feud in the Craigavon area.

He was a close associate of LVF founder Billy Wright who was murdered by members of the republican paramilitary INLA while he was in the Maze Prison.
