Police treat shooting incident as attempted murder
Police are treating a gun attack on a house in east Belfast last night as attempted murder.
The incident occurred at around 9.25pm on Monday night when a shot was fired into the living room of a house in Enid Parade in the Upper Newtownards Road of east Belfast.
A man who was in the house at the time narrowly escaped injury.
Police have appealed for information about a white car that was seen driving away into the direction of Holland drive after the attack.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Loyalists blamed for east Belfast pipebomb attack
Five people have escaped injury after a pipebomb was thrown at a house in east Belfast. The device exploded at the rear of a house in Bryson Court in the nationalist Short Strand area around 1am this morning. East Belfast Sinn Féin councillor Joe O’Donnell said the attack was orchestrated by loyalists.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
