'Dissidents' Behind Derry Shooting
A man is recovering in hospital following a shooting in Derry last night.
One local politicians has blamed the attack on dissident republicans.
Police said a number of shots were fired through the front window of a house in Hollymount at around 11pm.
A 26-year-old man sustained a gun shot wound to his leg and is currently being treated in the hospital where he condition is not thought to be life threatening.
Another 22-year-old man was also present in the house at the time, but was not injured.
Detectives said they are still trying to establish a motive for the shooting.
Local SDLP Assembly members Pat Ramsey, who lives in the area, condemned the shooting.
"Dissident republicans have already shown their ability to cause disruption and damage," he said.
"What we need to see from them now is an ability to move away from violence as the people of Derry want them to."
Police have appealed for anyone who may have been in the Hollymount Park area late on Wednesday evening, and may have witnessed the attack, to come forward.

A man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in Co L'Derry. A 33-year-old man was shot in the legs and abdomen in the Lisfannon Park area on Tuesday, 08 August. Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". The 43-year-old suspect was detained in L'Derry on Tuesday, 15 August.
