Belfast IT company opens Dublin office
The Irish Minister for Labour, Trade and Consumer Affairs performed the opening ceremony when Wellington Computer Systems recently opened their Dublin office.
In his speech the Minister for Labour, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Tom Kitt, welcomed the Belfast based computer software company to Dublin.
With customers throughout Ireland, Wellington develops and installs ORACLE software packages. Their leading Credit Union software package LOCUS supports an asset base of some €1.2 billion and LIQUIDATA their drinks software, processes in excess of €800 million of sales per annum within the drinks sector.
Bucking the current IT trend, the company has achieved sustainable growth in the past three years resulting in a 30 per cent increase in Staff numbers.
Speaking at the opening Alex Dunne, Chairman said: "Our integrated software reflects our Industry knowledge and technical innovation. This has enabled our customers to avail of best-of-breed technologies and succeed in their own markets. As a result, Wellington has steadily grown market share".
Kevin Taylor, Managing Director said: "We know our markets, we know how to satisfy our customer needs and our customers know they can depend on us to do just that".
Founded in 1983, in the last six months Wellington gained two particularly significant new customers, The Guinness Ireland Groups' wholly owned subsidiary United Beverages Group, and one of Irelands largest Credit Unions, Eircom Staff Credit Union.

Credit Unions Get Full Deposit Protection
Credit union customers in NI are to enjoy the same protection as those at ordinary banks. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) and HM Treasury (HMT) have today jointly announced that Northern Ireland's credit union customers will have their deposits protected to the value of £85,000.

Education Minister Paul Givan has responded to the announcement by several teachers' unions that they plan to ballot their members for industrial action over 2024/25 pay. Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.
