Louth Chocolate Firm Appointed Liquidator
The High Court has appointed a liquidator to a County Louth chocolate firm.
Danucci Ltd, which employs three people in Dundalk, had heard earlier that examinership had failed.
The company was established in 2005 and experienced rapid growth in the domestic market. It's luxury chocolates were once stocked by Harrods and John Lewis in the UK.
However the High Court was told employers this morning that possible investors in the company had 'fallen by the wayside' and the company now had no reasonable prospect of survival.
Mr Justice Peter Charlton appointed Mr Niall Hughes as examiner.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that workers at one of the biggest builders providers in Waterford will picket the firm tomorrow morning in a strike by members of the trade union UNITE.
81 workers at Morris's on the Cork road in Waterford city will picket the premises over the issuing of voluntary redundancy notices, which UNITE say is a forced selection by the company.
Management is seeking 18 redundancies at the well known builders providers and large hardware store.
