Aerial installers fit and maintain equipment that receives television and radio signals. This commonly includes roof or wall-mounted TV aerials, satellite dishes and the cabling and connections that carry signals to televisions, recorders or distribution equipment. Installers may assess reception at a property, recommend a suitable aerial or dish, position it and check that connected equipment receives a usable signal. Typical work includes replacing damaged or outdated aerials, adjusting aerials or dishes after signal problems, repairing loose fittings and faulty cables, and adding extra sockets or connections in other rooms. Some installers also set up Freeview or Freesat equipment and install amplifiers, splitters or filters where appropriate. For blocks of flats and other shared buildings, they may install or maintain communal aerial and satellite systems, allowing several households to use shared reception equipment.
