Housing Executives, Northern Ireland

Housing executives are public or not-for-profit organisations responsible for managing social and affordable housing. Their work can include assessing housing needs, maintaining homes and neighbourhoods, allocating properties in line with eligibility and local policies, and supporting tenants throughout their tenancies. Some also plan and commission new housing, work with councils and housing associations, and oversee programmes to improve existing homes. Customers and residents may deal with these organisations about applications, waiting lists, rent and tenancy matters, repairs, adaptations for accessibility, anti-social behaviour or complaints. Services vary by area and provider: some manage homes directly, while others coordinate housing services or fund and oversee provision by partner organisations. They are distinct from estate agents, which generally handle private property sales and lettings.
