Industrial gas businesses produce, blend and supply gases used in manufacturing, engineering, laboratories and other commercial processes. Common products include oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and acetylene, supplied as individual gases or prepared mixtures. They may provide gases for welding and cutting, heat treatment, inerting, calibration, food processing, water treatment and chemical production. Supply is arranged to suit the customer's use and site, with gases delivered in cylinders, cylinder packs, bulk tanks or, where appropriate, generated on site. Services can include installing and maintaining storage and supply systems, supplying regulators and other gas-handling equipment, and advising on suitable products and safe storage. Customers are generally responsible for following relevant safety procedures when handling pressurised or hazardous gases.
