Banks, Northern Ireland
Banks provide financial services to individuals, households, businesses and other organisations. They accept deposits and offer current accounts for receiving income, paying bills and making transfers, as well as savings accounts and, in some cases, cash or foreign currency services. Customers may manage accounts through branches, telephone services, cash machines and online or mobile banking. Banks also issue debit and credit cards and provide payment facilities such as standing orders and direct debits. Many banks lend money through personal and business loans, overdrafts, mortgages and other forms of credit. Their services may include arranging international payments, supporting business cash flow and providing information about savings or borrowing products. Some offer investment, insurance or financial planning services, either directly or through separate specialist providers.
