Psychologists, Northern Ireland
Psychologists study how people think, feel and behave, and apply psychological knowledge in settings such as healthcare, education, workplaces and the justice system. Their work may involve assessing emotional, behavioural or learning needs, exploring factors that affect wellbeing, and helping people understand patterns in their thoughts and actions. The type of support offered depends on the psychologist's training and area of practice. Services can include psychological assessments, structured therapy or other interventions, advice for families and carers, and written reports for clinical, educational or legal purposes. Some psychologists support children and young people with learning or developmental needs; others work with adults experiencing distress, occupational challenges or health conditions. Organisations may use psychologists for staff assessment, training or workplace wellbeing.
