Social Security Offices, Northern Ireland
Social security offices are public service offices that help administer state benefits and related support. In the UK, these services are mainly provided by the Department for Work and Pensions and its agencies. Depending on the office and the service involved, staff may assist with enquiries about benefit eligibility, explain how to make or maintain a claim, and direct people to the appropriate department or online service. Services can include support relating to Universal Credit, State Pension, disability and carers' benefits, jobseeker support and National Insurance records. Offices may arrange appointments, check documents or help customers report changes in their circumstances. Some provide access to employment advice or referrals to other public services. Not every office deals with every benefit, and many claims and routine updates are handled online, by post or through dedicated contact services rather than in person.
