Youth Centres/Clubs, Northern Ireland

Youth centres and clubs provide supervised spaces where children and young people can meet, take part in activities and develop social skills. They may serve a particular age group or offer sessions for different ages, often outside school hours, at weekends or during holidays. Activities vary by venue and can include sports, arts and crafts, music, games, cooking, trips and group projects. Some centres offer quieter areas for study, access to computers or help with practical matters such as education, relationships and wellbeing. Youth workers and other staff may run group sessions, listen to young people's concerns and signpost them to specialist support where appropriate. Provision can be open to local young people or arranged through schools, charities, community organisations or local authorities. Clubs usually operate at set times and may require registration or parental consent for younger members.
