Pensioners Targeted By Armed Robbers

Armed robbers have threatened and robbed an elderly couple in their Wolverhampton home.

The couple, who are both in their 80s, answered the door to their flat in Woodstock Road, East Park at around 3.40pm on Sunday 4 October.

Three men forced their way into the property, armed with a knife and a gun.

The woman was threatened with the knife, while her husband was held down on a chair and the offenders demanded money. A substantial quantity of cash was handed over before the men fled the scene.

Police said the couple were uninjured but left shaken by the incident.

The offenders are all described as black and in their late teens or 20s. The first man was around 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall, of heavy build, and wore a grey shirt and a grey hat.

The second man was over 6ft tall and of slim build. He wore a blue tracksuit and knitted hat. The third man wore a bright red tracksuit and knitted hat.

Detective Inspector Toni Naylor from Wednesfield police station said: "This was a shocking and disturbing robbery where an elderly couple were threatened by armed men in their own home.

"Significant threats were made to the couple, causing them to fear for their lives.

"Thankfully the couple were not hurt, but we are keen to catch these men before they strike again.

"We are sure people must have seen these men in the area on Sunday and we urge anyone with information to come forward."
