Head Injuries Killed M5 Victim
Detectives investigating the murder of Melanie Hall said she had suffered "blunt force" injuries to her head. A post mortem examination revealed the 25-year-old had a fractured skull and injuries to her cheekbone and jaw. Ms Hall went missing from a nightclub in Bath in 1996. Her bones were found in bin bags hidden by the side of the M5 near Bristol last week. Avon and Somerset Police said the bags had been tied up with a long length of blue plastic rope. Her body was discovered near Thornbury in South Gloucestershire.
RNLI Saves Drowning Victim
An RNLI inshore lifeboat crew has rescued a woman from the sea off the Skytower, Rhyl, Denbighshire, in Wales. The unnamed woman was 50 yards out, when she was spotted by the North Wales Police helicopter at 9pm on Monday. The RNLI said a crew member jumped into the sea to hold the woman, who was drifting in and out of consciousness, and pull her from the water.
Drugged Joiner Jailed
A building worker, who is a joiner by trade, but who led a double life as a cocaine dealer has been jailed for six years. James Purves, 27, was caught with 4kg of the drug, worth an estimated £35,000, during a trip to Liverpool. The High Court in Edinburgh heard he had made a previous run, and had supplied drugs with a street value of at least £100,000. Purves, from Edinburgh, denied supplying the class A drug but was found guilty.

RNLI urges care on bank holiday after busy weekend
Last weekend was the busiest of 2004 with RNLI lifeboats launching 80 times to help adults and children in distress throughout the UK and Ireland. RNLI lifeguards and volunteer lifeboat crews do not want to see a repeat of 2003, when they responded to a record number of incidents.

Tobin Found Guilty Of Schoolgirl Murder
Peter Tobin has been convicted of the murder of schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton who disappeared more than 17 years ago. Tobin, 62, was found guilty at the High Court in Dundee of abducting, sexually abusing and killing the 15-year-old, before cutting up her body and burying it in his garden.

Two Die In 'Suspicious' Flat Fire
Two people have died in a fire at a block of flats in Hounslow, west London. It is reported that a 30-year-old woman was found in the street after jumping from the burning building. She was pronounced dead by ambulance crew at around 02:34 on Wednesday morning. 58 firefighters tackled the blaze in a flat at the block in west London.

Cars Pulled From Sea After Sudden Tide
Redcar RNLI have recovered two cars from the sea off Teeside after drivers were caught out by the incoming tide. The lifeboat was called out after multiple 999 calls about a car stuck in the sea with two people on its roof on Wednesday afternoon.

River Search Continues For Missing 11-Year-Old
A major search operation is continuing for an 11-year-old boy who fell into the River Towy in Carmarthen. The operation was launched at about 16:00 on Tuesday when it was reported the boy had gone into the river.
