Two Charged With Child's Death
A man and a woman have been charged following the death of 15-month-old Violet Mullen in Oldham.
Gary Alcock, 28, and Claire Flanagan, 21, both of Huddersfield Road, Oldham, have both been charged with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child under the Domestic Violence Act 2005.
The pair appeared before Oldham magistrates on Saturday 16 January.
No application for bail was made and they were remanded in custody to appear before magistrates again today when their case is expected to be sent to Manchester Crown Court for trial.
Shortly after 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 January, police received a report from the ambulance service of a 15-month-old baby girl, Violet Mullen, being brought into Royal Oldham Hospital for cardiac arrest.
Violet died a short time later.

Oldham Explosion Inquiry Continues
Oldham Council and a range of partner organisations across all sectors are continuing work to assist residents affected by Tuesday's explosion in Shaw. Police now say the death of the two-year-old, named as Jamie Heaton, is being treated as suspicious. The explosion in Buckley Street, also left a 27-year-old man in hospital with burns.

A man and woman are due to appear in court today charged with the death of a four-year-old child. The 36-year-old man and 22-year-old woman from the Tyseley area of Birmingham, are due to appear at the city's magistrates' court charged with killing a four-year-old child through gross neglect, in April.

Fourteen-year-old Camilia Lupu, missing from her Oldham home since 26 June, has been found "safe and well" in Spain. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have reported that the teenager handed herself into police in the Almerian Province of Spain on Monday as a result of media coverage.
