Lover's Death 'On Air'

A TV presenter's on-air confession that he killed his ailing same-sex lover is to be investigated by Nottinghamshire Police. Ray Gosling, 70, told the BBC's Inside Out programme he had smothered the unnamed man who was dying of Aids. Pressure group Care Not Killing said it was "bizarre" the BBC had not told police of the admission when it was filmed in December, but the corporation said it was under no obligation to report to police ahead of broadcast but would co-operate with the inquiry.

Drone Downed

Police on Merseyside have had to ground their new drone over concerns it was being used illegally without a licence. Merseyside Police said they had been unaware they needed a licence to fly the £40,000 remote control helicopter fitted with a CCTV. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it needed to be consulted over any use of the drones, that can fly up to 400ft and reach speeds of 30mph.

Charges Follow Disturbance

A man has been charged after police in Salford attended to a report of a disturbance on Sunday 14 February 2010. Christopher Drake of Ellesmere Road, Monton has been charged with 21 offences, including sexual activity with a child, sexual activity with a child whilst in a position of trust, common assault, and threats to kill. He is due to appear at Salford Magistrates Court later today.

Loads Of Money Wheeled Away

Thieves who stole £20,000 mainly in coins from a Fife bus depot would have needed a wheelbarrow to carry off their haul, police have said. The break-in happened at the Stagecoach bus depot on Flemington Road, Glenrothes, between 1am and 4.30am on Monday with the thieves thought to have crossed the A92 near to Preston roundabout and to have driven off in a vehicle which was parked nearby.

Wales Crash Kills One

One person has died and three others have been seriously hurt when a car carrying the four people overturned on a main road. The black Renault Clio crashed on the A548 near Yew Tree Farm at Sealand, Flintshire, on Monday night. North Wales Police were alerted at just after 9.20pm. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and three others were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital. Police said the three injured males remained in hospital, one with serious injuries.

Release Of Police Killer Described As 'Sickening'
The release of a man convicted of killing three unarmed police officers in 1966 has been described as "sickening". Harry Roberts, now aged 78, has been released from prison after serving 48 years for 1966 murders of three unarmed police officers in Shepherd's Bush in west London.

Woman Arrested At Heathrow On Terrorism Charges
A 25-year-old woman has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of terrorism offences. It is understood that the woman was travelling with her one-year-old son when officers arrested her as she disembarked a flight from Turkey. Police said her charges relate to offences in Syria.
