'Unusual' Theft Of Church Bell
Grampian Police are hoping someone will have information about the theft of a church bell in the Marykirk area of Aberdeenshire.
The incident occurred between 11am on Sunday 4 April and 10am on Tuesday 6 April 2010, at Marykirk Church.
As a result of the incident, the 200-year-old church bell was stolen from its place on the front of the church.
The bell is described as being about 18 inches in diameter, 16 inches in height, unpolished brass or bronze with two machined rings at the lower end. It doesn't have any distinguishing marks or ingraving.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: "This is a very unusual crime, but the fact it's been stolen from a church is pretty low.
"We are appealing for anyone with information regarding this theft, or who may be offered a church bell for sale, to contact us on 0845 600 5 700. Alternatively, contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous."
