Boys Guilty Of Sex Charge
Two boys, aged 10 and 11, have been found guilty at the Old Bailey of attempted rape of an eight-year-old girl in London. However, they were cleared of rape of the girl near her west London home after the girl had alleged she was raped in a field in October 2009. The boys, who were both 10 at the time and cannot be named, denied two charges of rape and two charges of attempted rape of a child under 13. The boys will not be sentenced for at least another eight weeks to allow reports to be prepared.
Duchess Does The Dirt
HRH Prince Andrew has "categorically" denied knowing about a meeting in which his ex-wife allegedly offered a reporter access to him for cash. Buckingham Palace said the Duke of York had carried out his role as a UK trade envoy with "complete and absolute propriety and integrity". Met Cops Run NY For Charity
British Police officers and staff will attempt to pull a jet plane and run a half marathon this week in the hope of raising £50,000 to help fight childhood cancer. The 82 strong team, comprising of police officers and staff from across the Met, as well as colleagues from Essex Police and British Transport Police, departed for New York on 20 May with British Airways. They will be running eight laps of New York's Central Park before competing against the New York Ports Authority to drag a Jet Blue A320 Air Bus the length of an aircraft hanger. The team will attempt to successfully complete both challenges in just two days, to raise money for the JACK Foundation.
Scottish Housing Debated
The housing system must adapt with 'radical thinking and bold new ideas' to the financial realities presented by reductions in public spending, according to a discussion document published by Scottish Ministers today. Housing: Fresh Thinking, New Ideas poses fundamental questions about the way homes can be built, allocated, funded and managed in the future and is linked to a new website where members of the public can contribute to the debate. An examination of where the Scottish Government's housing priorities should lie is also proposed: increasing social housing, supporting aspiring homeowners and reducing carbon emissions.
