London Police Probe Deadly Shooting
Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a murder in Westminster.
Police were called at just after midnight on Saturday 22 May to reports of a man shot in Harrow Road, near the junction with Sutherland Avenue, W9.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and discovered a man suffering a gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene but died before 1am.
The victim is Daniel Omari Smith, 22, an electrician from the Paddington area. He lived with his mother and two sisters.
A post mortem examination is currently underway at City of Westminster Mortuary.
Trident officers are investigating with Detective Chief Inspector John Crossley of the Met's Trident team, leading the investigation, saying: "Daniel had just come out a takeaway in Harrow Road and purchased food.
"He was shot as he was returning to his vehicle, a red Ford Focus C-Max, when he was shot.
He managed to make it back to the takeaway but collapsed and died later.
"He was a young working man and from a loving family. They are devastated by what has happened.
"I would urge any possible witnesses or anyone with information to come forward."
Anyone with information that may assist the inquiry should call the incident room at West Hendon on 020 8733 4704. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.There have been no arrests.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Garston, Liverpool on Tuesday night. Police were called to reports of a road accident between a car and a scrambler bike on Banks Road in Garston at about 20:45 last night. However, when police arrived at the scene they found an 18-year-old man with serious gunshot wounds.

The gunman who shot dead 32 people at a US college has been described as a loner, whose college work was "disturbing". Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old from South Korea, who had been resident in the US since 1992, was an English student at Virginia Tech who lived on campus.

Detectives investigating the shooting of German Gorbuntsov on 20 March continue to appeal for information to trace a suspect. The suspect described as white, 6ft tall and of slim build, and wearing a dark hooded top was seen running from Byng Street away from Westferry Road, believed through Bellamy Close, towards the Marsh Wall area.
