Road Crash Kills Four In Afghanistan
There was further tragedy for British forces this week as four soldiers have been killed in a road accident in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that the soldiers, part of a police advisory team, were killed near Gereshk, Helmand province, on Wednesday evening.
They were travelling to help in an incident at a nearby checkpoint when they died.
Lt Col James Carr-Smith, said: "They will be sorely missed and their actions will not be forgotten." Their next of kin have been informed.
Their deaths mean the total number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan since 2001 stands at 307.
The soldiers were travelling in a Ridgeback armoured vehicle which rolled off the road and ended up under water, but the MoD said that enemy action was not thought to have been involved - it was an accident.

Blast Kills Marines In Afghanistan
The Royal Marine Corps has suffered two more casualties. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed today that the British naval personnel were killed in an explosion in Afghanistan. The members of 40 Commando Royal Marines, were on a routine patrol on Sunday when the pair were hit by what is thought to be a roadside bomb.

Bomb blast kills British soldier in Basra
The Ministry of Defence has reported that a British soldier has been killed in Iraq on Friday 9 February 2007. The MoD confirmed that the soldier had been killed in a roadside bomb attack while on patrol in the south-east of Basra City. Three other soldiers have also been injured, one of whom is described as being in a critical condition.

The Ministry of Defence has named two soldiers killed in Afghanistan at the weekend. Lance Bombardier Ross Clark and Lance Bombardier Liam McLoughlin, both from 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, died during a rocket attack in the Sangin area of Helmand province on Saturday.

Fire Death Soldiers Named
Two British soldiers who died in a domestic fire at a base in Helmand have been named. On Monday, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) released a statement which said the men, based at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, were not thought to have died as a result of enemy action.
