Girl Airlifted After Fife Cliff Fall
There was high drama in Scotland at the weekend after a young girl suffered a head injury after she fell at a tourist attraction on the Fife coast.
She was airlifted to hospital after Forth Coastguary received a 999 call at around midday on Sunday reporting that an 11-year-old girl had fallen at the Chain Walk, near Elie.
The chain walk is a series of walks set into the cliffs, caves and rocks in the area with the chains in place to provide handholds.
The young girl - who was on holiday in the area with her family from Glasgow - had fallen and sustained a head injury.
Forth Coastguard called out the Leven and St Andrews Coastguard rescue teams along with the Grantham sector manager. Anstruther RNLI inshore lifeboat and a rescue helicopter were also requested.
The girl was winched out of the location by the Royal Navy helicopter from Prestwick with her father and evacuated to the Children's hospital at Edinburgh.
The lifeboat assisted in evacuating Coastguard rescue officers from the scene of the incident along with members of the public.
