Heavy Rain Hits Britain
Parts of Britain have been hit by torrential rain and gale force winds, and more rain is believed to be on its way after the Met Office issued a severe weather warning.
Up to 4cm (1.5in) of rain fell overnight in areas of southern England with 40mph winds.
Hampshire got the worst of the downpour, however Plymouth and Devon also saw similar conditions.
The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for the Thames area.
The Met Office predicted rainfall of up to 5cm (2in) in isolated areas.
The rain is also expected to spread to Scotland and Northern Ireland over the coming week.

Britain braced for strong winds and heavy rain
Britain is preparing for a spate of bad weather as the Met Office has predicted gales and heavy winds throughout the country for the rest of the week. Forecasters have warned that gusts of 60 mph and more than an inch of rain are possible in some areas, as two Atlantic depressions track across the country through the next three days.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning as the remains of Hurricane Gonzalo is set to reach the UK. The forecaster has said that winds of up to 60mph and heavy rain is expected to affect most of the UK by Tuesday. A "be aware" warning has been issued for Northern Ireland, northern England, northern Wales and parts of Scotland.

Gales predicted in UK
The UK is bracing itself for some strong winds and heavy rain throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday. The Met Office said that a deep area of low pressure would bring unseasonably strong winds and heavy rain to northern parts of the UK, especially north-west Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Strong Winds Expected Across England And Scotland
The Met Office has issued amber warnings for northern Scotland on Thursday and Friday. A yellow weather warning has also been issued for the rest of Scotland and north England. It also warns of high winds from Thursday to Saturday. Strong winds of up to 70mph are expected across the countries.
