Appeal For Witnesses Launched After Teenager Dies

Police have launched an appeal in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old found stabbed to death in North West London.

Around 0025 BST, on Wednesday, 27 October, police and ambulance were called following reports of a boy injured at the grassed area on Bray Road.

Officers attended the scene and discovered the 17-year-old suffering from an injury to the upper chest area.

He was taken to Barnet General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Next of kin have been informed and formal identification awaits.

A post mortem examination at Finchley Mortuary gave Cause of Death from a gunshot wound.

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command investigate and, at this early stage, retain an open mind as to the motive to this incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Wall, who is heading the investigation, said: "The circumstances leading up to the death are still unclear. What we do know is that there would have been a number of people at the location and possibly some commotion between them. I am appealing to anyone who was there or may have seen or heard anything to come forward and speak to us."

Eleven people have been arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently in custody at various North London police stations.
