Cameron Questioned By Senior MPs' Committee
For the first time since taking up office the Prime Minister is being questioned by the chairmen of the various Commons select committees. The session began at 2pm today with questions focusing on Ireland's debt crisis and the spending review. Defending his decision to ring fence the NHS budget, David Cameron said it was the thing he cared about most. The committee of chairmen, called the liaison committee, question Prime Ministers twice a year.
Foam Firm Fined After Worker Falls Through Roof
A foam manufacturer has been fined after a worker fell through a roof at its Derbyshire factory. The worker, who does not want to be named, was repairing a leaking roof at Recticel Ltd in Alfreton in January 2009. The worker fell approximately four metres onto a section of foam on a conveyor belt below, and then onto the floor. He suffered tissue damage and was off work for six weeks. The incident has left him with residual pain and stiffness. A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found Recticel had failed to properly plan the work and consider the risks from fragile surfaces. At Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court, Recticel Ltd, from Derbyshire, admitted breaching Work at Height Regulations and was fined a total of £13,000 and £5,098 costs. Aladdin's Cave To Open In Brent
Victims of burglary in Brent are invited to a special event next week which aims to reunite them with their lost treasures. Brent residents, who have had property stolen, are invited to the second 'Aladdin's Cave' event on Saturday, 27 November, at Brent Town Hall to look for their lost property. The event is organised by the Metropolitan Police Service and Brent Council. It is open to the public and will also provide crime prevention advice. Property recovered by the police - but not reclaimed by its owner - will be on display including jewellery, TVs and computers. Detectives will be on hand to speak with anyone who spots an item they believe could be theirs and will take steps to establish correct ownership. Representatives from police, council, fire service and also voluntary organisations including Victim Support will be on hand to give crime prevention advice and support.

Shetland Firm Fined After Worker Falls
A Shetland engineering company has been fined after a worker was severely injured when he fell while dismantling a redundant aerial mast. David Thomson, 22, was working as part of a team removing the mast at the former RAF remote radar head at Unst, Shetland, when the incident happened on 23 August 2010.

Police Appeal Following Attack On Student In Brent
Detectives in Brent are appealing for information following a violent attack in which a student was stabbed. The incident took place in Willesden Lane, outside Brondesbury Court, NW2, at 00.35 hrs on the 5th January. The victim, who is a 30-year-old Spanish national, was approached by two males who attempted to steal his rucksack.

UK Unemployment Falls
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that unemployment in the UK now stands at 5.7%, having fallen by 97,000 in the three months to December. This means the number of adults now in work stands at 73.2%. The figures also show an increase in average earnings with bonuses, up 2.1% compared to a year earlier.

Edgware Woman Missing
Brent Police are appealing to the public for help in finding a missing pensioner from Edgware. Breda Moggan, 68, (who also uses the name Bridget) of Beverley Drive, has been missing since 10am on 25 February. She left the house following an argument with her husband. She has never gone missing before.
