Call For Witnesses Over Central London Assault

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was attacked in the toilets of a West End bar earlier this month.

At approximately 2:20am on Saturday 8 December, the woman in her 20s went to the ladies toilets in a bar in Beak Street, off Regent Street, West London.

She was followed into the toilets by a man who then assaulted her. He then left the bar.

The man is believed to have been in the bar beforehand and was not known to the victim.

Officers believe it was a random attack.

The man is described as white, in his twenties with a slim build.

The woman was taken to a central London hospital for treatment and was subsequently discharged.

DI Colin Crichton, Westminster Serious Violence Team, said: "This was a nasty attack on someone who was by herself and unable to defend themselves. I want to ask anyone who was in the Beak Street area if they have any information to get in touch with my team as soon as possible.

"This is a particularly busy time of year in the West End with thousands of people coming into town to enjoy the bars and clubs. Our officers are always working to ensure that people can enjoy the area as safely as possible. However, I want to take this opportunity to remind anyone coming into town - enjoy yourself but at the same time remember your own personal safety and ensure you are always aware of your surroundings and belongings. If you have any concerns stick with friends and do not go off on your own."
